3rd i NY
Since November of 2002, 3rd i NY New York's monthly film and music salon, designed by a volunteer collective of media-makers and curators, have showcased the works of independent filmmakers of South Asian descent and local djs, musicians and electronica artists. Providing alternative forums for South Asian filmmakers who often have few venues to showcase their work not only increases their visibility, but also provides a social forum for peers and audiences to participate in an ongoing discussion.
3rd i NY provides an exhibition venue for emerging artists not only from the Subcontinent, but from around the diaspora - including UK, North America, the Caribbean, South Africa, and Australia. We especially build a network for local, New York-based artists to meet and work with each other. The foundation of our annual programming is residency at Two Boots Pioneer Theater every 3rd Tuesday of the month. Artists and audiences relax and meet after work at our popular Pizza & Beer Happy Hour after screening.
